Sub-group: Dinobots
Function: Desert Warrior
Quote: "Only in war is there happiness."
Profile (from Hasbro's original tech specs): "
An unhappy loner of few words and fewer opinions. Finds joy only in battle. Hates his Dinobot form, longs to return to Cybertron. Large golden plates on spinal assembly are solar collectors... strength increases tenfold in sunlight. Tail can shatter 20 foot concrete cube. Armored hide resists most missiles. Vulnerable to nighttime attacks due to his weaker state. Slow... uncooperative nature hinders others from helping him."
Snarl's my third favorite Dinobot, right after Slag and Swoop. I just love how his transformation works (from the designer's viewpoint in me.) The one thing that's always bugged me about Snarl is the mentionning in his tech spec that he longs to return to Cybertron. How in hell can he long to return to Cybertron when, in the cartoon, he was build and first activated on Earth in 1984?! Man, I'll never get these discrepancies between the tech spec bios and teh original 'toon. And I'm the first one to say that it was made for young children, so they had to let out certain parts so as to make the whole thing "believable", but come on! Well, at least he does come from Cybertron in the old Marvel comic run (and all comics since.) And while he may hate his alt-mode, I love it. The stegosaurus is one of my most liked dinosaurs of all times (I like pretty much all stegosaurs and ceratopsians so that's kind of an understatement), so much so that I even created a fanfic character out of a KO I once saw of Snarl here (which I'll post, eventually) who alt-mode a kentrosaurus (has spikes instead of plates on it's back.)

: I *think* I used Sludge as a reference to make Snarl, but it's a bit fuzzy so I'm not sure anymore. And like Slag and Swoop, I made a more toy-looking version for my private filling system, although it was fun to see how much toy design I could cram into the animation model.

Witness the grandeur and perfection that are the Dinobots here:
Grimlock,
Slag,
Sludge,
Snarl and
Swoop.

The toy versions of these five can be seen here:
Grimlock -Toy-,
Slag -Toy-,
Sludge -Toy-,
Snarl -Toy- and
Swoop -Toy-.

Two of the Dinobots took Nucleon and eventually lost their ability to transform, becoming
Action Master Grimlock and
Action Master Snarl.

Generation 2 eventually rolled in and the Dinobots, able to transform again, where reborn:
G2 Grimlock and "Greymon"
Grimlock,
G2 Slag,
G2 Sludge,
G2 Snarl and
G2 Swoop.

+favs the lot.
